registre :
Démarrer - Exécuter -> regedit puis Ok
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{87D62D94-71B3-4b9a-9489-5FE6850DC73E}
A+.

Start -> Run -> type in: Regedit
Find the
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SystemFileAssociations\.avi\shellex\PropertyHandler\
directory and delete the "DEFAULT" key ! ... Voila ! ... Explorer.exe runs at 0-1% on idling !

just ran the regsvr32 command and it instantly fixed the problem.
regsvr32 C:\windows\system32\zipfldr.dll /u
Just thought i would give some feedback. I just ran it 5 minutes ago when explorer was running between 80-100%,
and it instantly went to 0%.
If you have Windows Update running on automatic and you're experiencing a nasty slowdown on your system,
you might want to try removing patch 811493. The patch fixes a relatively minor security problem where
an attacker would have to have physical access to the machine.
I finally did the msconfig under the run command. After turning off many processes, I found a FAX process
by Microsoft. After turning off the FAX process, the CPU has returned to normal and all seems to be well.
i have solved the problem for my comps. when my explorer.exe uses 99% cpu and the standard
gay lag starts, it is always because i browsed a folder with a damaged movie file. you can
be sure by trying to delete the file, and windows wont let you. to solve the problem,
restart, go into safe mode, delete the file or files, and your set. if you still have the
problem, you have another dead file. i get this problem every few weeks, and every time,
i can fix it by deleting some avi file i downloaded. i think the reason windows lags is
because explorer is trying to get the file information on the movie, and goes into some
kind of loop. i hope this works for you.
