Veillez m'excuser pour ecrire en Anglais, mais ma Francais ne suffi pas! I have just resolved this by using System Restore (in Windows XP). But I had to go into Safe Mode in order for the restore to run. Use Run-->msconfig to restart in Safe Mode, then use Programs->Accessories->System Tools->System Restore. Windows XP automatically creates restore points every few days, so use one from a few days ago. I could not run System Restore without entering Safe Mode. Once I used Safe Mode, it worked trés bien! No more flashing point d'exclamation, no more pop-up windows. Vive l'entente cordiale!
