  1. Thanks for the link to the FAQ Yes, I have also discovered that it is NOT necessary to delete the associated device driver - all I do when I get the error message etc is to unplug the power supply for a few seconds and then it works.
  2. Many thanks, neolike, and that is basically what I thought. Due to other problems with my Toshiba P20 (suddenly turns itself off when I get it to do some serious work, ie, video rendering) I didn't get round to contacting Lacie again so I much appreciate your posting that you received from them. Best regards, Brian.
  3. Sorry for the slow reply but I haven't been checking back here for a few days. Anyway, I have still not had any response from Lacie but I will write to them again next week. Usually my disk continues to function OK but I still have 'our' problem every week or so as I swap the drive between machines. It's guaranteed to happen if I have the USB connection when starting my Toshiba laptop. If I push in the USB plug once the machine is running normally then I don't think I ever get the problem but I'd like not to have to take the plug out before starting the machine. To delete a Device Driver, I do the following: 1) Control Panel 2) Administrative Tools 3) Computer Management 4) Device Manager 5) Look down the list for the TUSB6250 which, for me, always has a yellow question mark (?) next to it. 6) Right click and select Uninstall Sorry all that is in English but I'm sure you'll be able to work it out. I hope to have something more to post here in a few days. Regards to all, Brian near Geneva.
  4. Well, here's what I wrote to Lacie technical support, Switzerland on 26.12.05: Hi, Please excuse me for writing in English. Anyway, I have a BigDisk 500gb which normally works well BUT, every now and then, when using the USB connection, it installs a Device Drive for a "TUSB6250" and then refuses to work. I then have to delete the device driver, use the disk with the firewire connection for a bit and then it works again using the USB connection. I know that the TUSB6250 is something to do with a Texas Instruments chip (boot device) which has something to do with the dual 250gb drives in the 500gb box - if I have understood the little I have discovered on the web. What I would like to do is to avoid this message/situation and I hope you have a solution as it seems that I am not the only one with this problem. This problem occurs when connected to my Toshiba portable Satellite P20 - I am using Windows XP Home SP2. I look forward to your help in this area. Many thanks in advance, Brian Thomas. When I get a reply then I will post it here. Would anybody else who gets a reply/solutiuon also post it here please? Merci! Brian.
  5. PLEASE excuse me for writing in English - I do read and speak French but I'm too stupid to write. Hi Olivierdo, I'm having EXACTLY the same problem with my Lacie 500 gb disk when connected by USB to my Toshiba Satellite P20. However, it works perfectly when I use the Firewire connection. Using the USB connection it will work perfectly for weeks and then suddenly, when starting up, XP installs this device (TUSB6250) for no obvious reason and then I have to delete the device driver. If I use the Firewire connection ONCE then I can go back and use the USB connection for a few days/weeks before it goes wrong again. I have just written to Lacie asking what I can do. Did you get a reply from their technical support? May I ask what they suggested or did? Many thanks in advance, Brian Thomas near Geneva.
